What UCR costs
The price steps with your fleet, in six jumps. Here is where the money goes and how much of it is ours.
Checked over on
The price depends on how many power units you run, and it moves in six steps rather than smoothly. Here is this year’s ladder, as we charge it.
0–2 vehicles — $96.00 all in, for the year.
3–5 vehicles — $223.00 all in, for the year.
6–20 vehicles — $426.00 all in, for the year.
21–100 vehicles — $1,263.00 all in, for the year.
101–1,000 vehicles — we quote this one by hand. Tell us your count and we’ll come back with a price.
1,001+ vehicles — we quote this one by hand. Tell us your count and we’ll come back with a price.
Why the jump between brackets is so big
The bands are set by the states, and they climb steeply — the largest is hundreds of times the smallest. What we charge barely moves between them, because filing for two trucks takes the same work as filing for two hundred. Almost all of the difference you see between bands is the registration itself.
One vehicle either side of a bracket line can change what you owe considerably. It is worth getting the count right.
Start with your USDOT number and we’ll fill in the rest from the federal register.

How many trucks do I count? — Two ways to answer, and they can give different numbers. Which one to use, and what a power unit actually is.
Is UCR the same as a BOC-3? — No, and mixing them up is the most common mistake we see. Here is the difference in one page.
When is UCR due? — It opens in October, it is due by the end of December, and nobody sends you a reminder. Here are the dates.
