Refunds
Before the request goes out, your money is yours. After the designation is on record, the work has been done.

The line, plainly
If the filing request has not gone out yet, you get your money back — no reason needed. If it went out and was rejected through an error of ours, you get your money back. Once the designation is recorded, the service has been performed and the $45.00 is not refundable.
Where a full refund applies
You ask before the request has gone out, for any reason or none. The filing cannot be completed at all. It is rejected because of an error on our side and we cannot correct it and send it again. Or you were charged twice for the same designation, in which case write to us and the duplicate goes back the same day.
Where it does not
If the designation is on file and you have changed your mind, or moved to another process agent, the work has been done and cannot be undone. You are free to replace us at any time by filing a new BOC-3 — but the filing we made was still made.
If your operating authority was refused or delayed for some reason unconnected to the BOC-3, that is outside what we did: we satisfy one requirement of several and have no influence over the rest.
And if the filing was rejected because a detail you confirmed at checkout was wrong, we correct it and file again once at no charge, which leaves you better off than a refund would.
UCR is priced differently, so the line sits elsewhere
Most of what you pay for a Unified Carrier Registration is not ours. The registration fee is set by the participating states and we hand it to your base state in full; our service fee is what is left. That changes where the line falls, because once the state has its fee it does not come back to us.
So: before we submit the registration, you get all of it back — the state’s part and ours — for any reason or none. That includes an order sitting with us because your fleet size needed a human to price it. After we submit it, neither part comes back, and if you ask we will tell you the day it went.
If we could not complete the registration at all, or you were charged twice for the same registration year, you get all of it back whenever you notice.
Bought a UCR and a BOC-3 in one payment? They are two filings under one charge and each is judged on its own. We work out the refundable portion and send that back to your card; the rest of the payment stands.
Asking
Email support@fiftystateagent.com with your USDOT number. A person reads it. There is no form and we do not require a reason. Approved refunds go back to the original card; Stripe generally takes five to ten business days to show it, which is their timing rather than ours.
One request: if you do not recognise a charge, write to us before disputing it. Your statement shows a short descriptor rather than our full name, and most disputes we see turn out to be somebody who simply did not recognise it. A genuine mistake is refunded immediately.
