What is a BOC-3?

It's the filing that names process agents for your company — people who can accept legal documents for you in each state. It's part of getting your operating authority.

What's a process agent?

Someone in a state who can accept legal papers for your company and pass them on to you. You don't have to find one yourself.

Do I need one?

Applying for FMCSA operating authority as a for-hire carrier, broker or freight forwarder? A BOC-3 is generally one of the filings that needs to be on file before your authority can be granted. Not sure whether it applies to you? Ask us before you order.

What does blanket coverage mean?

One filing covers all 50 states and DC. You don't sort out an agent in each state.

While you’re here — do you owe UCR as well?

Different filing, different year, same carrier. Nearly every interstate carrier and broker owes a Unified Carrier Registration each year, and a BOC-3 does not cover it. Ours start at $96.00all in — the state’s share is in that figure and we pass it through untouched.

Do both at once and you save $20.00.
